Measuring Information

Measuring is conducted in our three main regional centres; Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs.  There are many options to measure your horse:

  • OFFICIAL - Horse required to be EA registered.  $11.00
  • LIFE* - Horse required to be EA registered.  $55.00
  • UNOFFICIAL - Horse is not required to be EA registered.  $22.00

Note for horses under 5 years, a Limited Measurement is valid for six months from date of measuring.

What should I do to be prepared?

For ENT Measuring there is NO prior to the day paperwork, but you will need to ensure you have your original EA Registration Papers and previous EA measuring cards with you, and the correct amount of money available to pay for measuring . We accept cash/eftpos/credit card.

What should I do on the day?

 Upon arrival you should:

  • come and see the measuring secretary to collect appropriate paperwork and pay relevant fee, (for safety reasons please leave your horse in a stable rather than bringing it with you to collect the paperwork!)
  • when called present the horse for confirmation of id/microchip number
  • when called present the horse for measuring
  • when called collect signed measuring card (again, please leave your horse in a stable when you come to collect the card)
  • Please ensure your horse is presented to the measuring secretary 15 minutes prior to close of time.  If not presented within this timeframe you will be unable to have your horse measured on that day.

Important Information

  • EA Registered horses are to be presented with EA registration papers.  If no papers are presented the horse can only be issued with an unofficial card (not accepted in Official EA Competition) and the fee for non -registered horses will apply
  • Handlers must be 16 years of age or older and must be wearing suitable enclosed footwear (no thongs!)
  • The horse may only be measured either with all four shoes, two front shoes or without shoes.  Horses with only hind shoes, or with one shoe missing will not be measured
  • All bell boots, brush boots, float boots, rugs etc. must be removed
  • The horse must be presented in a bridle
