Join our Incident Management Team

Equestrian Northern Territory (ENT) is continually looking for safety initiatives which can support effective event risk management, keeping our members safe.

ENT is seeking to create an Incident Management Team by upskilling a group of members, to better service our members and affiliated clubs in terms of event safety and risk management.

The Level 1 Sports Trainer accreditation is a step up from a First Aid qualification and is more specific to sports related injuries and anatomy which is not really touched on in first aid courses.

Some highlights of the Level 1 Sports Trainer accreditation:

  • Use of spinal boards
  • How to stabilise an athlete with suspected spinal injury
  • How to identify concussion, monitor and treat (more in depth than First Aid)

The course is being conducted in Darwin during the month of November.  Which includes some online learning modules and a face-to-face component:

  • Virtual classroom Tuesday 10th November 6-9pm
  • Virtual classroom Thursday 12th November 6-9pm
  • Face-to-Face Practical Saturday 14th November 8-11am

ENT will fully fund candidates to undertake the course with the expectation candidates will join the Incident Management Team, and support ENT and its affiliated clubs throughout the NT by providing a medical resource at events.

To be eligible you must be:

  • A member of ENT (any category)
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Have or have the ability to undertake course prerequisites HLTAID003 Provide First Aid including HLTAID001 Provide CPR
  • Availability during the equestrian competition season in the NT
