EA Medication Control - Swabbing Steward Accreditation Course

Equestrian NT is hosting a Medication Control, Swabbing Steward Course with EA National Medication Control Officer and FEI Vet, Dr. Cate Plummer, Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 April 2020.

Dr Plummer BVSc BSc (Vet) (Hons) is a graduate of Sydney University and has since been actively involved in mixed practice and worked as an official race day veterinarian for Racing NSW.  An accredited FEI vet, Dr Plummer enjoys a keen interest in performance horses and has held veterinary roles at the 2008 Hong Kong Para Olympics (Medication Control Veterinarian), 2010 Singapore Youth Olympics and Adelaide & Sydney Three Day Events.

At present we have one dedicated Swabbing Steward in the Territory and need more.  These roles are vital in our organisational structure to provide our members events such as our State Championships, where by rule it is compulsory to undertake swabbing.  By completing this course, there may also be an option for paid work via Thoroughbreed Racing NT, assisting the designated track vet to collect samples post racing.

Also a fantastic opportunity to gain further knowledge on how to manage medications, herbal treatments and the impact they may have on your horse in terms of withholding periods.
